Each is new in a plastic bag. The bag is in fair condition. Length: The maximum practical working length of this cord is 6 feet. Relaxed the coiled portion of this cord is about 18 to 20 inches long, NOT 12 FEET. Add a little more for the uncoiled portion on each end. It is called a 12 foot cord because 12 feet of material goes into the curling machine. Western Electric went by a standard that "LONG" meant 12 feet and "STD (standard) meant 6 feet. Later, "LONG" came to mean a 25 foot cord. This cord is the 12 foot version.
