Description: About the artist. The artist’s statement. “Andrew Joseph Keith is a figurative artist who has always had passion for drawing and painting however, after his first sculpture class in college, he decided to make sculpture his focus. He is a husband and father from Logan, UT who studied at Utah State University under sculptors Rioichi Sazuki, Myles Howel, and Jason Millward. His artworks are inspired by the beauty and gesture of the human figure in dynamic poses that capture motion in a moment.” I’m a full time artist just starting my career. This sculpture is listed by the artist so you know that the funds will be used to create more works of art. If you would like to see more of the process and variety of my artworks you can find me on Instagram by searching Andrew Joseph Keith. This medium small size sculpture stands just under 1 ft and it is made of unique Utah marble called Picasso marble. Picasso marble is one of the most interesting stones for sculpture. Every piece of Picasso appears to be a beautiful abstract painting with rich blues, blue grays, green, yellow, and brown reds in a design that shows the complex geological history of the stone. It’s easy to see why this type of stone is so treasured among artists and art collectors. The design is an abstracted male torso with lots of movement. A geometric and linear abstraction. Set on a white marble base that contrasts with the dark colorful stone. If you have any questions please reach out and I’d be happy to answer them! I also do commissioned stone sculptures and I do have some larger pieces of this Picasso marble.
