About Linda McCartney's Photography:Linda Eastman was hired by Town & Country magazine as a receptionist and editorial assistant. She met photographer, David Dalton and became his romantic partner. While working together, Linda learned about photography from David. Once she started taking her own photos, she had a talent for getting unruly or unwilling subjects to cooperate. This impressed people like David and helped her get more photography jobs, including photographing musicians. Linda's photography skills improved quickly, and she became an unofficial photographer for the Fillmore East concert hall. She photographed many famous musicians, including the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. Linda also became the first woman to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, both as the subject and photographer. She continued to hone her craft and eventually had her work displayed in over 50 galleries worldwide. Her photographs were later published in a book, Linda McCartney's Sixties: Portrait of an Era. Despite not attending formal photography training, Linda's talent and dedication allowed her to become a respected photographer during the 1960s and beyond. Linda McCartney's passion for photography extended beyond just music. She was also an avid nature photographer and used her Leica camera to capture images of horses and other wildlife. Her photos were often praised for their natural beauty and unique composition. She would go on to photograph her future husband, Paul McCartney, and their family extensively. They often joked that Linda took so many photos that she must have had no pictures of herself. But her work captured the essence of the McCartney family and their lives together. In addition to her photography career, Linda was also an animal rights activist and advocate for vegetarianism. She wrote several cookbooks featuring vegetarian meals, which helped popularize the idea of plant-based diets. Her impact on the vegetarian movement was recognized by her induction into the Vegetarian Hall of Fame in 1999. Sadly, Linda McCartney passed away in 1998 from breast cancer, leaving behind a legacy as a talented photographer, activist, and humanitarian. Her contributions to the arts and society continue to be celebrated and remembered today. Copyright © 2018-2023 TDM Inc. The photos and text in this listing are copyrighted.
