Description: EXTRA INFOPHOTO TINNERS GULLIES LOOKING ALONG THE STRIKE OF THE LOADS OF THE BIRCH TOR AND VITIFER MINE COMPLEX. A LARGE NUMBER OF LOADS WERE FOUND IN THIS AREA WHICH WERE MINED ORIGINALLY BY OPENCAST WORKINGS FROM THE SURFACE AND LATER BY SHAFTS. THE MAIN ORE WAS CASSITERITE BUT SMALLER QUANTITIES OF HAEMATITE WERE ALSO PRODUCED. DESPITE THE LARGE NUMBER OF LODES THE RECORDED OUTPUT WAS NOT LARGE. IT IS LIKELY THAT THIS AREA WAS WORKED IN THE MEDIEVAL ERA. THE LAST MINE TO CLOSE IN 1930 WAS THE GOLDEN DAGGER MINE FURTHER DOWN THE VALLEY TOWARDS CHALLACOMBE DOWN. 2013 COPYRIGHT (Photograph and text in Extra Info) ALAN HUNT PHOTO PAPER THICKNESS NORMAL PHOTOGRAPH THICKNESS NOTES REF NO AHV-2215 PHOTO SIZE SIZE 6 X 4 inches CONDITION: SOME CROPPING OR WHITE LINES TOP/BOTTOM MAY OCCUR DUE TO PHOTO RATIO WATERMARK IF PRESENT ON THE IMAGE WILL NOT APPEAR ON ITEM SENT TO YOU: NOTES This is a print and supply service for an image that is COPYRIGHT (Photograph and text in Extra Info) Alan Hunt obtained from GEOGRAPH and licensed for reuse under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 Generic License Details of licence available here: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/ MANY OTHER ITEMS ARE BEING ADDED TO MY SHOP DAILY
