Description: The End of the Game Peter Hill Beard London. Paul Hamlyn. 1965. First British edition. Hardcover. With Dust jacket. B&W and Color Photographs. Oversized hardcover. Photographs and text by Peter Hill Beard. A classic work on the history and bleak outlook for Africa's big game. Much on the early big game hunters and explorers. A much sought after work. Stunning color and black and white photos. Text drawings. A book chronicling the abrupt change from the Old Africa to the New; a flicker of time between Isak Dinesen and this book. Bound in green cloth with gilt titles. Reproductions in gorgeous gravure. A great book. 256 pages. Includes bibliography. Very Good in a Very Good dust jacket. Boards are very clean. Light wear. Slight spine lean. Gold lettering remains bright. Internally, binding solid. Hinges sound. Remnants of scotch tape to the front and rear pastedowns and to the first free and rear endpapers probably from holding the dust jacket in place or a mylar covering in place at one time. Not terribly obtrusive. Small tear to the side edge of the rear endpaper. Clean and bright photographs printed in gorgeous gravure. DJ lightly soiled and rubbed w/ light wear and a chip to the bottom edge DJ back cover. Few scratches visible in the light. Not price clipped. A very nice copy of the first British edition of this classic Peter Beard. The dust jacket has a different jacket design than that of the first American edition and is a rarer variant. Scarce.
