Description: You are bidding on a large original antique print from an 1880s illustrated journal. It depicts the Allegheny County Courthouse at 436 Grant Street in Pittsburgh. It is part of a complex (along with the old Allegheny County Jail) designed by H. H. Richardson. The buildings are considered among the finest examples of the Romanesque Revival style for which Richardson is well known. The complex is bordered by wide thoroughfares named for city founders James Ross (Ross Street), John Forbes (Forbes Avenue) and James Grant (Grant Street). The current building, completed in 1888, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. Richardson later referred to it as his "great achievement".The print shows a sketch of the complex, and then a rendition of what it would look like when completed three years later.On the back of the print is a 14-inch article describing what upcoming building.. The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 16 inches (28 x 40.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below.The page is in excellent condition for its age.
