Description: Pennsylvania "Commonwealth" Statue Replica Sculpture by Chris Bennett a magnificent solid pewter statuette of the massive 15' gilded bronze statue atop the green dome of the Pennsylvania State Capital Building in Harrisburg, PA, sculpted by Roland Hinton Perry in 1908. Named "Commonwealth" or famously nicknamed "Miss Penn" and "Spirit of the Commonwealth," the model for the statue was William Penn's own daughter, Laetitia. At its completion and opening ceremony, Theodore Roosevelt famously stated that the Capitol was the most beautiful building he had ever seen. The staff symbolizes justice while her other hand is outstretched in benediction for the state. It was removed by helicopter in 1998 and placed back onto the building by sky crane. These replicas were produced in a very limited quantity to commemorate its restoration in 1998. It is 14 1/2" tall and it weighs over 10lbs. Sculpted by Chris Bennett Studio and cast by the New England Pewter Company, it is in excellent condition. This very attractive piece would be a welcome addition to home or office.
