Description: Penis Art (mature) LE PENIS Original Painting Graffiti Magritte Inspired 10" x 12" This is the first stencil concept I ever cut and it represents what street art meant to me 20 years ago. It was all about being cheeky and making off-beat concepts and images readily available to the public. Delving a little further, it was also my way to throw the often neglected penis into visual range. The art world flirts so often with breasts, backsides and even the occasional vagina, but the penis is just too taboo. In this case I wanted to play off of one of my favorite artists, Magritte, and create something sassy and sexy that paid homage to his 'Ceci n'est pas une pipe' image. Painted on canvas, I started with a grey and cream background that was coated in acrylic washes. I sprayed the stencil in pink and black. I then removed the canvas from it's support and fitted it into this vintage small ornate frame, 10" x 12". It fit perfectly and the strong contemporary style looked great framed in something so elegant.
