It is, in the words of historian Douglas Southall Freeman, "the fairest, as well as the fullest study of the tragedy from the viewpoint of the principal Confederate actor." Great historical reading in this book in very good condition. Nice clean unmarked pages. Couple of pages with dogearred corners. Light stain on front that goes through to the acknowledgement page.
