Description: Rare Childs Flow Blue Tiny Dinner Set Plate CONEFLOWER BACHELOR BUTTONS Staffordshire England 1820 This is a tiny dollhouse dinner set plate c1840. Made earthenware with a brilliant cobalt flow blue repeating cornflower motif, finished with pearlware glaze. It measures just 3-1/8 inches across with a flat bottom. The form indicates a very early period of children’s pottery. Well made, to the standards usually only found in full-size Staffordshire table wares, the tiny piece is an elegant mixture of formality and whimsy. A perfect start of a set for a doll and toy collector. The plate is unmarked. We call the pattern Cornflower or Bachelor Buttons and we don't know if it has an official name as we have never seen this pattern recorded. It was made in the Staffordshire region of England from the period of 1810-1820. The maker is unknown. A gorgeous pattern. The plate is in great condition with fine overall glaze crazing and no chips cracks or repairs. Stilt marks, specks of kiln dust and kiln kisses and other typical firing imperfections, original to the making and typical of the period. A great little toy dinner set plate to display in the finest ceramic collection or dollhouse! The tiny piece is a doll sized work of art, suitable for display and play. Sold as is, as described and as shown. We have also listed other miniature table wares and tea wares along with other great examples of pearlware and other early children's colorful transferwares this week -- mix and match for a lovely collection.
