Description: John Milton wrote Paradise Lost in the 17th century as a blank verse epic poem that became his magnum opus. The Heritage Press focused much of the 20th century on printing classics with beautiful illustrations and matching slipcases and they included a "Sandglass" newsletter pamphlet that includes information on the author and book. This edition was illustrated by William Blake which were printed in color for the first time and prefaces by Philip Hofer and John T. Winterich. There is a previous owner sticker on the inside front endpage. Pages are internally toned. Page edges are toned. The spine has heavy sun leeching and discoloration. Slipcase still has all sides attached but has significant chipping and shelfwear especially around the edges and joints with some cracks. Sides of the case are scuffed.
