Description: Beautiful copy of the rare 1919 edition of the Papers of the San Francisco Committee of Vigilance of 1851, edited by Mary Ford Williams. Published by the University of California Press at Berkeley, in consort with the Academy of Pacific Coast History. Here we have an absolutely incredible detailed, day-by-day account of the doings of San Francisco's first Committee of Vigilance in 1851. The minutes of meetings, testimonies of people during their "trials", motions passed and not passed, moneys allotted, and every aspect of their doings that were recorded are all here in this large volume, which is priceless for the student of San Francisco history. As you can imagine, this was not a wide publication and is quite rare to find outside of libraries. This copy is in excellent condition, appearing barely used. The cover has very slight wear, with a couple of scuffs on the front and slightly dinged corners. But the binding is like new and all the contents are immaculate. Crisp and clean pages throughout, and the foldout chart still intact (I don't think it had ever been unfolded until I took this picture). This is a top copy, and very hard to find.
