Description: Pair of Nippon Hand Painted Nile River & Pyramids Bread Plates Circa 1891 - 1911 Pretty pair of porcelain bread or small dessert plates. Each plate is decorated with a hand painted landscape scene depicting the Nile river. With tall palm trees in two shades of green with gold gilt highlights in front of the Nile river. With a boat, mountains, and two pyramids in the background. With gold beading along the edge. Marked on the back with a blue maple leaf and Nippon Hand Painted. This mark was used between 1891 and 1911. These have some wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. Each plate measures approximately 6 1/4 inches wide. These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the pieces. DR
