Pair Of Antique Crazy Quilt Pieces Perfect For Pillows Fanciful Embroidery! FAB!

Description: Here are a pair of 2 of the most beautiful crazy quilt toppers I have ever seen. Discovered in a bin of sewing items at an Upstate NY estate sale. Measuring 25.5”X 25.5” on one, 26” X 26” on the other. They were clearly made at the same time and complement each other perfectly. Their size makes them a perfect candidate for transformation into a pair of fabulous pillows. Or these could be framed, they are that beautiful and oh, so full of personality! They are both constructed from pieces of scrap fabrics, many of the pieces were, I believe, originally fabric from ties. The majority of the scraps are silk and there is some disintegration in some isolated areas. I need you to look carefully at my detailed photos to asses the condition. All the scraps were carefully selected and hand pieced together onto a cotton ground cloth which can be seen in my photos of the reverse sides. Whomever made these had a true eye for composition and color! Based on the fabrics used, I would date these pieces to the early 1900’s. The hand embroidered details bring the charm of these pieces to another level! Sweet flowers, a fish, fan and butterfly all make appearances. The wonderful cross stitching across both pieces binds the scraps together and brings a deeper dimension to their overall naive charm.
