Paden City Spring Orchard Crystal 4-Part Relish #215 Glades Blank Reverse Etched

Description: Offered for sale and just unpacked from a box that was packed away some 25-35 years ago comes this stunning relish dish in the "Spring Orchard" pattern. This pattern was manufactured by the Paden City Glass Company sometime during the Depression Era (1930's - 1950's). I identified this relish dish in the book "Encyclopedia of Paden City Glass" by Carrie & Jerry Domitz (copyright 2004). According to the authors, the pattern on the relish dish is a reverse etching and is found on the underside of the dish. This is a "busy" pattern containing daisies and swallows. It is very elegant and Paden City glassware is generally much more elegant & well-made than its contemporaries. There is a photo of this relish dish on page 191 and the caption reads: Crystal, #215 4-part relish, (they give a value of) $45-55 dollars. The number #215 refers to the shape of the dish - this is called the "Glades" shape or blank. Much of this pattern is found on this shape. From handle to handle this relish dish measures 11 inches across and from side to side (non-handled sides) it measures 9 inches across. The condition is EXCELLENT with no chips, no cracks, no discoloration, and no damage. There is an ART DECO feel to this dish with the vertical lines on the sides of the relish contrasting with circular and triangular compartments. A great piece from a great glass company!!
