The collection gems start with the original approval designs for the UN meter used on the peacekeeping troops. It has two rejected designs both with comments and the final approved one. Then it has the approved rubber stamp cancel version again with comments. Finally, a note from Ralph Bunche (Nobel Winner) to Hammarskjold about the overall plan for postal service and Hammarskjold “I have no views” comment in red at the bottom. Plus a stamped sheet showing models for a different version of cancel not used. (Gaines pages 1849-1850). Extraordinary and irreplaceable history documents. The collection has a postally used airletter with the large circle cancel from a Danish peacekeeper. Three covers using the meter cancel on Regular and 2 official letters and a postally used airletter. Plus a postally used airletter using the later box cancel. Two postally used English Forces Mail covers including “Freedom of Passage Guaranteed through Suez Canal” corner card cover. There are THREE United Nations Suez Canal Clearance Group covers. These are extremely rare. Two are addressed to Dag Hammarskjold, one marked “TOP SECRET”, and the other to A. Cordier, Assistant to Dag Hammarskjold. All are on official letterhead with Canal Clearance cancels and Diplomatic Pouch markings and received markings from the United Nations headquarters. Further the collection has an autographed cover from the Commander of UNEF E. L. M. Burns, a Rank and Badge identification chart, an official letter, and a copy of “The Sand Dune” newspaper published for the UNEF forces and six different Christmas and Holiday cards from various UNEF contingents. Finally, the collection includes all eight varieties in mint condition of the UNEF airletter (Gaines Page 1751) plus four additional types or printer errors. Plus O.H.M.S. service stamp on mint airletter, Irish UNEF mint airletter and Indonesia mint airletter for UNEF. Forty-one (41) pieces of UNEF postal history.
