SMITH, DELMAR WATSON, MILDRED KORNMAN - HFSID 275099 OUR GANG TV and MOVIE CAST The Our Gang TV and movie cast sign a script. Script signed: "Tommy/'Butch'/Bond", "Mildred Kornman/(Marys Sister)", "Jay R Smith/'Freckles'/Our Gang", "Delmar Watson", "O'tay/Gordon/Porky/Lee", "God Bless/Dorothy deBorb Haberruth/'Echo'/'Our Gang'", "Thank you/Patsy Barry/(Baby Patsy)", "Joy Lane" and "Dick Jones", 10p, 8½x11. Nine signatures in all. Brad-bound souvenir script for an Our Gang installment titled "Little Sinner," (originally dated 1935 August 10). Signed on the cover page in various colors of ink. In 1922, Hal Roach released the first of the Our Gang comedies, filling the cast with ordinary kids instead of child stars. In all, Roach filmed 88 silent and 80 talking versions of the comedy, with a shifting cast as individuals outgrew the youthful roles. Although MGM took over the franchise in 1938 and continued making Our Gang until 1944, the films without Roach's guidance were generally not as successful. The original Our Gang series proved popular again on TV in the 1950s and after, now called The Little Rascals because MGM owned the original name. GORDON "PORKY" LEE, who eventually appeared in 35 Our Gang films, made his debut in "Little Sinners". "O'tay" was his trademark expression. As "Butch", TOMMY BOND played the bully in many episodes, while bedeviling other actors like Laurel and Hardy with his young brat roles. DOROTHY DeBORBA joined the gang in the early talking phase (1930-1933) as "Echo". JOY LANE appeared in Our Gang Follies of 1936 and was one of Mother Peep's children in Laurel and Hardy's Babes in Toyland. PATSY BARRY was "Baby Patsy". MILDRED KORNMAN, later a fashion model and the younger sister of original Rascal Mary Kornmann, debuted in 1926. JAY R. SMITH was featured in the series from 1925-1929. DELMAR WATSON, from a family of child actors, appeared in many films of the 1930s and early 1940s, including My Little Chickadee and Young Mr. Lincoln. DICK JONES, whose first Our Gang role was in 1935, went on to play supporting roles in many Gene Autry Westerns of the 1940s and fifties. Cover slightly soiled near left edge.
