Description: >Offered here for your consideration is an old & original 1937 University of OREGON DUCKS football media guide!! Please see all nine photos, as they are an important part of my description. This exceedingly rare guide is full-sized (unlike more modern guides) and measures approximately 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" and contains fourteen (14) unnumbered pages; interior pages were printed on one side only. Both covers (thin cardboard, yellow-hued) are intentionally over-sized, thereby protecting the smaller interior pages. Pictured on the guide's front cover is a nifty football player photograph of a member of the 1937 Oregon Ducks football team. Super-imposed on the player photo, the front cover blares: "Stupendous, Collossal, Super Deluxe". The guide's back cover lists the 1937 Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) football schedule for the Oregon Webfoots (as they were commonly referred to back then), as well as the other PCC teams. The Ducks played a couple of unusual opponents, including the U. S. Marines and also Gonzaga University. This mega-rare vintage football media guide was published by Bruce Hamby for the Athletic News Bureau at the University of Oregon (Eugene, Oregon); these early media guides were solely intended for media personnel, and generally not made available to the general public. The first inside page reads like hype for a Hollywood movie! It reads: "The University of Oregon presents: An Epic of the Northwest...The 1937 Oregon Webfoots" - a Prince Callison Production...a colorful cast of 45 star athletes appearing in-person this fall on your favorite gridiron". Prince Callison was the head coach, aka Prink Callison. The first photo-page pictures Coach Callison (says "The Producer!") and Captain Tony Amato (referred to as "The Star!"). The 2nd and final photo-page pictures Oregon's athletic manager, plus five other players: Joe Huston, Bill Estes, Vern Moore, Don Kennedy and Nello Giovanini. The guide includes contents such as coaching staff data, schedule, prior season's results, prior conference standings, complete roster (only three players weighed in at 200 lbs. or more!), general outlook, Callison's coaching record and much more classic football content! Condition: this vintage media guide is in *Fine Shape* overall, exhibiting only minor age/handling faults! The cover's corners show varying degrees of wear, while the binding is solid with no splits. The binding staples show no rust! All interior pages are fine! A very solid football guide that is rarely found and uncommonly offered...you'd be hard-pressed to find another!!
