Description: Original Vintage WWII Paper Broadside announcing a speaking engagement for S.Sgt. Batterson telling his experiences being a POW in a NAZI Prison Camp. The broadside says: "HEAR S. Sgt. BATTERSON! Staff Sergeant Frank Batterson has an interesting story of his experiences in a Nazi prison camp. Hear him tell of his leap from a Boeing bomber over enemy territory after his leg had been shot off by German cannon fire. Sgt. Batterson is a Snohomish County boy who was only recently sent home through an exchange of prisoners. Sultan High SchoolSaturday EveningJune 24th - 8 p.m.No Admission Charge" The broadside measures 13.25" by 7.25." He was shot down around Brest on January 23, 1943. He was a tail gunner on the B17 "Hell Cat." It is in good condition with the minor storage wear, as seen. It has a center crease. There are some old, even light creases that lay flat now. And in the mid-center area is the "smush" storage wrinkle that you see. The broadside presents well and would look great framed in any WWII collection. Here is a link to the American Air Museum page on Batterson. If it doesn't work, just Google his name and a great photo comes up with information.
