Description: This is an original, Second World War production US military issue M1 steel helmet shell with rear seam, and swivel bail. Stamped "S" near the front interior for Schlueter, the company that manufactured this particular helmet. Appears to have original olive drab finish, but has seen a lot of service, probably through several wars, including dents, surface scratches, some lightly rusted spots and even what look like tiny paint spatters. Still, this is a nice shell and would make a fine restoration project or early acquisition for someone just starting to collect US M1 helmets.
