He was very important person during World War 1.Also he played an important role with Edvard Benes and Tomas Garrigue Masaryk in creation of post-war Czechoslovakia.Milan Rastislav Stefanik died in plane crash near village Ivanka Pri Dunaji on 4th May 1919. The accident is still not fully understood and there are some conspiracy theories - assassination and shooting down.However, one of the established versions says that the plane did not have enough speed during the maneuver and that is why it fell. Person of Milan Rastislav Stefanik was not recognized by communists and their propaganda because of his democratic and liberal opinions so some democratic parties after Velvet Revolution widely used his message for promotional purposes. Verejnost Proti Nasiliu abbreviated VPN or Public Against Violence was a democratic political movement active in Slovakia in the years 1989 – 1992. In the period 1990 – 1992 it was the decisive governing political force, which won the first free elections in Slovakia in June 1990. In the elections of In 1992, however, the VPN did not exceed the necessary 5 percent electoral quorum to enter parliament and was subsequently dissolved. VPN politicians founded the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia and the Civil Democratic Union - VPN (ODU-VPN, since 1992 only ODU) (Wiki).
