The state prize could be awarded both to an individual and to a group. The prizes were awarded on May 9 for the achievements of the previous year. The recipient received the honorary title of laureate of the Klement Gottwald state award, the right to wear the badge of the award (a red ribbon with white and blue edging and a laurel sprig) and a certain amount of money.The state awards were established in 1950 and named after the first communist president, Klement Gottwald, in 1955. They were abolished in 1990.The state prize could be awarded in one of three groups:- works, performances or discoveries in the fields of social and natural sciences, mathematics, medicine or technology,- excellent inventions and improvement of the production process, new methods, etc.,- works or performances in the field of literature, visual arts, theater, music, cinematography or applied graphics (Wiki).
