On July 22, 1941, the Supreme Commander I. Stalin, in his order No. 241, declared gratitude to the troops of the Moscow air defence zone and the personnel of the fire brigades and the police for successfully repelling the Nazi air raid on Moscow. This was the first order of this kind. The following thanks were announced at the end of 1941 for the liberation of Rostov, Kerch and Feodosia. But, since, unfortunately, these successes were short-lived (finally Rostov was liberated in 1943, and Kerch with Theodosia only in 1944), the Supreme did not soon again resort to such a measure of encouragement. It happened on January 25, 1943, by the Order on the occasion of the victories won by the Red Army near Stalingrad, on the Don, in the North Caucasus, near Voronezh, in the Great Luk and south of Lake Ladoga.
