Description: Oil painting ( or acrylic ) of one of Laverne Elliott's ( 1932 - 2018 ) most noted subjects, pottery. The broken pot has a turquoise necklace draped over the side. Also the artist has affixed some turquoise beads to the canvas, several of which have come off. Signed lower right by Mrs. Elliott, who lived most of her life in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Of part Cherokee ancestry, she spent much time learning the customs of tribes across the country. The artist received many awards and exhibited widely. The current work measures 9 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches.
