Description: SOUL OF YOUTH 1/2sh 1920 troubled orphan Lewis Sargent runs away but is redeemed, ultra rare!An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) The Soul of Youth, the 1920 William Desmond Taylor (billed as "William D. Taylor") silent juvenile orphan foster family crime melodrama (from the story "By Julia Crawford Ivers"; about a troubled orphan who runs away from the orphanage and is picked up by police; a kindhearted judge though see the potential in the boy and he allows him to be adopted by a young politician!) starring Lewis Sargent (as Ed Simpson), Ernest Butterworth, Clyde Fillmore, Grace Morse, Lila Lee, and Elizabeth JanesImportant Added Info: Note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. Note also that this half-sheet is very old, and it would not make sense to attempt to roll it, as the paper is fragile enough that rolling it might damage it. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Note that the poster is not so fragile that it is "falling to pieces"! If it is handled carefully, it can absolutely be framed and enjoyed without any worry.Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a few creases and tears of varying lengths around the edges (none extend past the brown border) and there are a few pinholes and faint smudges along portions of the blank borders. There is some writing at lower left. The image area itself is in pretty nice condition. Please see pictures before bidding.StorylineThe story of an orphan boy who, due to the cruelty of others, is drawn into a life of sin on the streets prior to the redemption of a caring foster family.TriviaAfter visiting a male brothel in Los Angeles, director William Desmond Taylor decided to include a scene in which the film's protagonist was sold into white slavery. The extras in the orphanage scene were reportedly all played by boys from a real Los Angeles orphanage. In public speeches and interviews, William Desmond Taylor used the redemption at the end to justify the lewd plot points that preceded it. Often a defender of the moralist attacks on the film industry, he claimed a moral ending would have no significance if you did not witness the immorality the character suffered through.PLEASE NOTE: With all my posters I take pictures of the posters then they are placed in UV plastic sleeves on acid free cardboard and stored flat. All my folded posters are unfolded for the pictures and then stored that way. I believe that folding and unfolding the posters is bad for the poster weaking the paper. I normally ship the posters rolled in a USPS approved shipping box using Priority Mail. But with the cost of shipping, I will upon request sent the poster that has previously been folded, refold it and send it in a smaller package. Then I will reimburse the difference or sent you an invoice as to the correct shipping charge. I do not recommend this, and I will not be responsible for any added damage. DON'T BE FOOLED; AN ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER IN THE FUTURE WILL BE WORTH MORE THAN A REPRODUCTION THAT WILL BE WORTHLESS!!Please check out the above description and the pictures. Please note the pictures may have camera flash.
