Description: This is a very lovely illustrated black and white pastel or chalk original work of art. It is framed under glass in a vintage decorative wood carved moulding that has a distressed painted finish with gold accents. There are a few chips in the frame that are only noticeable upon close inspection of the frameing. They are clearly shown in the detailed pics attached. The drawing is signed or marked MEPKIN near the lower right corner. The scenic depicts a stoic robed monk standing in what appears to be illuminating sunlight streaming through the thickly wooded forest. It has a beautiful essence about it, with a very atmospheric feel. The drawing itself is drawn on grey textured art paper and measures 6.25 in X 9.25 in. The piece was purchased while visiting the famous Mepkin Abbey Trappist Monastery gardens located in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, sometime in the 1970's.
