Description: Original Document - Salem, Massachusetts, 1828. Deed: Daniel Chamberlain to John Waters. I'm not great at legalese but as near as I can make out, Daniel Chamberlain of West Newbury, Ma. is selling twolots of land to John Waters of Salem for $352.41 I've had other documents involving John Waters of Salem ... always buying lots of land. Must have been an early property developer. He bought several lots in what was described as "North Fields" which was a parcel of land divided into smallish lots. Today, it's known as "Northfields" and is an upscale neighborhood in North Salem. Although this deed doesn't mention North Fields, I would bet that's where these two lots are located. (I have another Salem deed listed here, in my store, involving the purchase of a lot in North Fields by this same John Waters.) He always seemed to pay about $150.00 per lot. Can you imagine what his lots are worth today! This deed in in very good condition. Single sheet, 8" x 14" Couple of small foxing spots on the right side edge but no tears or stains. There's lots of clearly written signatures at the bottom. Great for researching on the internet. Deed has been folded in the past and as usual, the fold lines are weak but no separations. Still, handle carefully. _________________________Inv. No. 1938
