Description: Genuine original 1903 antique color lithographed plat map of the northern section of East Cleveland, including the Windermere, Grasmere, and Grand View subdivisions. Coverage area extends from the border with Collinwood to just south of the intersection of Doan and Euclid Avenues. Shows the streetcar lines of the Cleveland Electric Railway company and the right-of-way of the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad, also labeled on the map as the Nickel Plate. Locates Shaw Academy, the Euclid Avenue Presbyterian Church, the Hungarian Congregational Church and Cemetery, and other features. The stretch of Euclid Avenue shown on this map was part of what was known as "Millionaire's Row," home to many fine estates of wealthy American industrialists, including John D. Rockefeller, Standard Oil founder and "the world’s first billionaire." The map is titled East Cleveland Village North Part and is copyrighted © 1903 by H.B. Stranahan. (East Cleveland was incorporated as a city in 1911, eight years after this map was printed.) The image area measures a generous 15¾" x 26½" and the map is drawn on a scale of 400 feet to the inch, which provides wonderful detail, including the names of individual property owners, with lot sizes in acres. Condition: This map is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. It is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side, and there is a vertical fold at the center, as issued. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. It is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It would make a handsome display in your den or office. It would also make a perfect gift, and we'll include our helpful framing tips for your reference. We are also listing the companion map to this one, showing the south part of East Cleveland.
