Description: Original 1882 Hamilton Hamilton NA Watercolor Enjoying Sand and Surf Original 1882 Hamilton Hamilton NA Watercolor Enjoying Sand and Surf Click images to enlarge Description Original 1882 Hamilton Hamilton NA Watercolor Enjoying Sand and Surf Offered here is a delightful watercolor by Hamilton Hamilton painted in 1882 after he had completed his studies in Paris and before he was elected to the National Academy. He was actively exhibiting at the NAD and several other venues during this time. The scene, a young woman enjoying the beach and surf, is beautifully realized. We've provided many photos and flatbed scans to illustrate the details. It's a superb painting. Hamilton was elected an associate of the NAD in 1886 and full Academician* in 1889. His oils bring auction prices to $100,000.00 and higher; his larger watercolors to $15,000.00 and higher. Our piece is 9.5" by 13.75" sight, 17" by 21" matted and framed. The painting and frame are in excellent condition; the extra thick mat with gold liner is in good condition with a few slight bumps (please see images). It is protected under acrylic and presents beautifully. Returns are accepted only in case of misrepresentation but our guarantee of authenticity is without time limit. *Please note that Ebay listings frequently claim National Academy membership for artists that are not, in fact, Academicians. Some may have taken classes or exhibited at the NAD, but that does not confer membership. You can check such claims on the NAD website using this link: http://www.nationalacademy.org/academy/national-academicians/ From: Who Was Who in American Art 1564-1975 HAMILTON, Hamilton [Landscape and genre painter] b.1847, Oxford, England /d.1928, Norwalk, CT Addresses: NYC; Peekskill, NY (c.1896-1909); Pasadena, CA (1910-11); Norwalk, CT (1912-on).
