Description: Old Vtg Antique Ormolu Casket Box Trinket Jewelry Angel Cherub Dove Amber Glass Gorgeous vintage glass and metal ormolu filigree gothic baroque casket box. There is so much exquisite detail….looks like something that should be in a castle. My favorite is all the doves protecting the contents. This amazing piece is called a casket box. Made from beveled amber glass, that is in excellent condition, and ormolu metal, that has some patina to it. It is approximately 13” tall and 6” wide, with a circumference of 20”. It weighs approximately 5 lbs. it’s basically in good condition, but does have two dark spots on the interior cloth, which we have not tried to clean. The inside base is tufted with a velvet type fabric…the outside of the base is slightly bowed and loose, and there is a liquid stain (see photo). The base is footed. The top and bottom open by gently pulling them apart, and then carefully pushing them back together. The top and bottom pieces of this box have to be aligned just right to close, so it is not for something you want to open frequently. More for something that is very special to you, that you want a place for safe keeping. I believe the birds inside are doves….there are six of them, and they are the protectors of whatever you choose to put inside. On the outside metal is Angel cherubs on each side.
