Description: This 15 inch tall old doll appears to be created from silk stockings. I do not know the age of this doll but believe it was created in the early 20th century. He has shoe button eyes and embroidered facial features with dark brown curly wire type hair. The doll, entirely made of stuffed silk stockings, is jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. The cotton shirt and wool short pants are sewn onto the doll so I am not able to examine the torso. The doll was not commercially made and certainly has been loved by a child in the past. There are a couple of areas of wear on the face and both mitten shaped hands also are worn. The legs are constructed of a darker shade of stockings and do exhibit some wear. Overall, the doll is in sturdy clean condition and would be a fine a addition to a cloth doll collection. He could either stand or sit with the proper support. His character demeanor and wobbly head are quite appealing.
