Description: What fun this must have been for little ones on long trips to stop and climb around this large exhibit of Paul Bunyan in the 1940s or 1950s. An original Kodak vintage b&w photograph negative 2.75x1.75" See my other photos from this tourist stop. online info - These statues at Paul Bunyan Land were previously located at the Paul Bunyan Amusement Center in Brainerd. The Paul Bunyan Amusement Center was originally known as Paul Bunyan Playground when it opened in 1950. The main attraction was this 26-foot-tall Paul Bunyan statue. The statue was originally built for the 1948 Chicago Railroad Fair. It bears a striking resemblance to the Lincoln Memorial. In 1978, the statue got a new shirt and head which enabled him to blink and move his mouth to talk. His arms also move. See this video to hear and see Paul in action. The Babe statue was located in the parking lot at Paul Bunyan Amusement Center. When the place closed in 2003, the Paul Bunyan, Babe and several other statues were relocated to This Old Farm Pioneer Village. The new area was named Paul Bunyan Land. The Babe Head came from Paul Bunyan Bowl in Baxter (see above). It was located inside and blew steam from its nose. Happy to answer any questions and combine shipping.
