Description: Antique original Old Marbles hatchet model # 6 Pocket axe Camp ax very early model No 6 ( the Michigan model ) - Non safety handle - ( Re hafted ? Or very early model ) Fair to good condition The head it self measures about 4 1/2 “ x 2 1/2 “ the head shows signs of age and use , with scattered light salt and pepper pitting The maker markings are faint & worn , Slightly obscure , but still visible But it has the classic marbles ‘ three hole ‘ head inlet I suspect the but / hammer end of the head may have been buffed down at one time- no real damage, no displaced metal , no deep file marks This could use a bit of cleaning , But With a little buffing ,…. the markings should become clearer It has a straight 11 inch shaft hickory handle , with slight age cracks , ( possibly replaced many years ago during the course of its service ) Again ….this IS NOT THE ‘ safety handle style (with the folding metal guard, that protects the blade when not in use - it could be an early c 1910 era hatchet a scarce early marbles ax head that has seen honest use , but no abuse Don’t pass it up ! restore it or enjoy it as - is vintage Marble Safety Axe Co.
