Catalpa is a lightweight wood that was highly prized in this area for building fishing boats on the green river.This was some of my mentor's old wood and was cut in the 1970's Pieces have oxidized to a dark color along edges, and this can especially be seen in last photo showing reverse face of one guitar side that was nearest surface of old board. Catalpa has very unique scent/odor. While obviously not quartersawn, this wood is quite stable The edges have not been jointed, as I have left them as wide as possible.
