Description: ARTIST: Ib Eisner is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions multiple times and who was a popular exhibitor both in Denmark and internationally – f.ex. in London and Tokyo. He studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen and went on study trips to France, Amsterdam and London. His paintings often depict people doing everyday things together, such as going for walks, meeting each other, talking etc. He has painted quite a few scenes form the Deer Garden, which is situated north of Copenhagen and also from Tivoli. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. The painting is a very atmospheric and evocative rendering of a man and his daughter going for a Sunday walk through the Deer Garden (Dyrehaven). Situated just north of Copenhagen, Dyrehaven is a genuine piece of Danish history. In 1669 Frederik the 3rd fenced in and reserved a large area with game for hunting purposes. Later, Christian the 5th expanded the area and it got its popular name "Dyrehaven". It's an area of pristine forest and plains - almost left untouched for 350 years, but also is a popular walking area for many Copenhageners. It houses the world's oldest amusement park, "Bakken", and is also where the first football match in Denmark was played in 1897. The painting is also a fantastic depiction of Autumn with brown and yellow colors, bare branches and the little girl wearing the classic yellow raincoat and red rubber boots. Stuck behind the frame is a piece of paper, which contains information about the artist and on the back of the canvas it says “Søndagstur I Dyrehaven”(A Sunday trip to the Deer Garden). I’ll date the painting to somewhere between 1960-1979. Signed: “IB EISNER” in the lower right corner and “EISNER” on the back of the canvas. SIZE: With frame: 89,5 cm/35.2" * 79,5 cm/31.3". Without frame: 69 cm/27.2" * 59 cm/23.2". CONDITION: The painting is in great ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains.
