This was the first year for an emissions safety gas cap , If you had pressure in your tank the cap had an extra set of tangs preventing the cap from popping off., Cap has Caution Open Slowly stamped in the top of the cap. This cap has the Stant S rivet in the center and SMC logo stamped in the tab on the cap. Plating is excellent with no corrosion on it like you see in a lot of the caps that are 50 years plus old. Original high quality GM caps are getting harder to find.
