Description: This booklet was developed in the 1950's and was intended to show EMD customers how we were protecting critical replacement parts using VPI paper. This was a new development as it eliminated grease and cosmoline as a preservative. As a little background, many of the internal parts inside an EMD engine are finished in microns. In other words, almost a mirror finish. General motors was having trouble with failures on their piston pins and they actually traced it back to the acidity from finger prints. I used to work in EMD's training center and we would demonstrate this using brand new piston pins. We would take one from the production line and tell people to freely handle it. I would then show them one that was only a month old and it was rusted beyond use. It sure left an impression on the guy/gals attending the class. Note that this booklet has a bit of dirt on the cover. It is essentially new but because of the little bit of dirt, I'm listing it as used. It is 8 pages long. Will send USPS
