Description: This is such an elegant and nice piece of Indigenous art from the North native American First NationsHERON, on SALMON base by artist Charles George St., a member of the Heiltsuk First Nations from Bella Bella.Beautiful expression - the title of the piece is so appropriate: Graceful PatienceShowing the Heron, waiting to catch a fish. The details are really nice, the heron is carved and painted on both sides, in the heron's body you can see the raven and the whale symbol, even the base which is depicting the salmon is so detailed. Both pieces, the heron and the salmon are fully hand carved and hand painted. Signed underneath the base. Measurements: 24" tall, 5 1/2" wide, 1" deep, the salmon base is 12" x 6 1/2"Charles “Charlie” George is originally from Bella Bella, in British Columbia’s Central Coast region. He’s a Heiltsuk First Nations wood carver, and has been honing his craft for more than 50 years. His hands are worn but steady. They still guide a sharp knife across planks of pale northern white-cedar while fragrant curls of wood fall near his feet. Charlie lives at Nuutsumuut with his wife and 3 sons.
