Includes Nixon wins New Hampshire primary (1968, postmarked Lincoln, NH); Nixon visits Poland (1972, postmarked Poland, ME); Nixon Second Inauguration (1973, 9 versions variously postmarked Washington, DC; Nixon, NV; and Kennedy, AL); Agnew Quits Vice Presidency (1973); Ford is Confirmed (1973); Nixon Announces Resignation and Resigns (1974, 15 versions variously postmarked Washington, DC; Nixon, NV; and Logansport, IN); Ford Inauguration (1974, 13 versions variously postmarked Washington, DC; and Nixon, NV); Ford pardons Nixon (1974, 5 versions variously postmarked Washington, DC; and Ford, VA); Rockefeller sworn in as Vice President (1974, 4 versions). Several of the envelopes have special double-cancellations commemorating on one envelope two related major events that occurred on two different dates! Collected new when the events were ongoing and here offered for the first time a half century later, this is a historic group of U.S. commemorative envelopes with a wide variety of stamps and hand- and machine-cancellations bringing to life a critical period in the nation’s history. Each envelope ca. 3 ½” x 6 ½”. Includes a mounted Sarazin metal plaque (Inauguration), Colorano “Silk” Cachet (Nixon Inauguration, Announces Resignation and Resignation; and Ford Inauguration), and many fine Art Craft covers, as well as unusual covers from less well known creators.
