His given name was Mitsutoki, he was commonly known as Dohachi, and his pen name was Horasanjin. He used the pen name Nin'ami after he shaved his head and entered the Buddhist priesthood at the age of 42, and was given the pen name Hokyo by the Ninnaji Imperial Family in 1812.
