This color image began as a high-resolution scan of a photochrom. Photochroms were an early method for creating fine color prints from black and white photographs. They were meticulously produced by experts using as many as 14 lithographic stones and were very high quality. You will receive a 5-inch by 7-inch (5x7) print from this image that will ship the next business day after you pay, unless you request to substitute digital images on a CD. (See "CD option" below.) For best color and clarity, it will be a photographic print from a photo lab. We took great care to preserve the sharpness and old look while removing scratches, spots, and other damage that would make it less viewable. We repaired imperfections and improved tonal values. A little of the top of the image was cropped out to fit the 5x7 proportions. The full uncropped image was used to make the images on the CD. This means that there may be some white edges (less than 1/4 inch wide) outside the image so that you can display the maximum amount of the image in typical devices that hide the edges of the print. Quality: We select the highest-quality originals we can find and carefully restore and improve them. Photochroms do not meet today’s high standards for color prints due to the limitations of the printing methods used in those days, and the effects of age. But we improve them as much as we can while preserving the old look. Then we process them using modern archival methods so they can be affordable and last for many years. CD option: You can request to substitute a CD instead of a print. The CD will contain more than one version of the image, including at least one cropped close-up, that are optimized for digital presentations, websites, social media and e-mail. The images will not exceed 1200 pixels in the longest dimension, and thus may not fill the screen when used for high definition displays. We also include additional related images on the CD. If we have additional information about any image, we include a text file as well. You must request the CD in eBay on the same day that you pay.
