Description: New York American Newspaper 1926 Mandell Beats Rocky Kansas Sporting Section COA Pre-owned. The New York American newspaper is in a plastic sleeve with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Caren Archive, Inc included. It is dated July 4, 1926, with the headline MANDELL DEFEATS ROCKY KANSAS FOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE. The newspaper has yellowed with age and the edges and folds have damage from brittleness, deterioration, and what might be called crumbling or tattering. I purchased this paper at an estate sale years ago. It has not been out of the sleeve since owning it. There are little tiny pieces that have broken away from the edges. I have not removed or thrown them away as received. There is a cardboard insert behind the paper so I could not photograph it. The paper is coming up on being an antique at 100 years old. Please see the photos for a visual description. I am not taking returns on this paper as the shipping will be too much stress. I will sandwich the paper between two large sheets of cardboard. It will be neat and carefully done and then boxed. On July 3,1926, Rocky Kansas was defeated by Sammy Mandell giving up his Lightweight Champion Titile in Cominskey Park, Chicago, Illinios.
