The author, Koichi Eugene Okamoto, Ph.D., a former Fulbright scholar as well as a leading tea ceremony practitioner, planned and wrote all the entries in both languages in parallel. Viviane Lowe, M.A., an editor specializing in art and culture, worked closely with the author to finalize the first draft. Jennifer L. Anderson, Ph.D., a cultural anthropologist at San Jose State University and an Urasenke tea ceremony practitioner, advised the author on various parts of the final revision process. About the Author and Editor: Koichi Okamoto Born in 1955, Graduated from The University of Tokyo with B.A (1980)., M.A.(1982), and Ph.D. (1990)in social psychology. Taught and researched in social psychology, risk perception, and applied social psychology at Toyo Eiwa University from 1989 to 2024. He was a Fulbright Scholar at University of Oregon, and has served many committee positions for the Government of Japan, including Adviser to MITI, Expert Committee Member for Nuclear Safety Committee, and Expert Advisory Board Member for MEXT.He is an active practitioner and author of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, contributing a monthly article to "Tanko," an Urasenke Journal and the school's formal lecturer. He also serves as a governing council of Urasenke Gakuen Professional College of Tea Ceremony.
