Description: SWIMMER /SWIMMING 1947 ONLY Intermediate Girl Scout Badge This badge design has stayed the same from the beginning of Girl Scouting to the present time. The name has changed slightly several times, but the design has been the same --- waves with two yellow Birds. This Silver Green material on these badges was first issued in 1938 to match the new uniforms. Badges with Silver Green fabric came with black bobbin-thread from 1938 to 1946 when the entire manufacturing process changed to a WHITE bobbin thread. To complicate things, the SG fabric was changed in 1948 to a bright green, thus SG badges with a white bobbin thread were sold for only ONE YEAR making them quite rare.
