Description: NEW ARRIVAL!!!! OPUNTIA QUIMILO- A very scarce Opuntia, listed as "unusual in collections" for encounterability. Native to Bolivia and Argentina. Once named Opuntia distans, Britton et Rose 1919 among other names, now properly Opuntia quimilo, K. Schum., 1898. Great cacti with 2 plus inch long white nail-like spines, spaced apart, great contrast to the bright green pads! Produces large red-orange flowers. The spines vary on these, depending on the age of the pad. Some have many spines, some have almost none yet. Nice clean, pretty cuttings, about 3 to 5 inches long, a full pad or joint, treated on cut with Rootone a root growth hormone to insure rooting. These are grown outdoors, so some pads may have minor scars- we try to pick the cleanest available at time of shipping.Hardy and fairly easy to grow in most climates, but must be protected from frost. Photo here is of one of the actual plants we will take the cuttings from, our collection specimens. Only these few available. See our other listings for more neat Cacti. Free Shipping!
