Description: Presented is an excellent antique Swedish silver snuffbox or small trinket box, dated 1905. The box is made in a simple, elegant form, rectangular with slightly rounded corners. The construction of the hinge of the lid is particularly nice, very neat and tidily done. The interior has a gold wash. The top surface of the lid has a monogram of AFD in fancy script. The interior of the lid is stamped with the Swedish triple crown hallmark, the date mark C7 for 1905, a maker's mark of JR and a mark of O, possibly a city mark for Orebro. The box is nitric acid tested and guaranteed at least 830 purity silver, the Swedish silver standard at the time. This piece is in great overall condition. The hinge is in great shape and the lid closes nicely. Minor surface wear, and a very small gouge to one edge of the underside. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The box measures about 2 3/8 by 1 5/8 by 7/8 of an inch, LxWxH.
