Listed items will not be marked down during the listing duration. National Silver introduced King Edward in 1936 and made the pattern for about 10 years. The design is of a simple feathered handle. I have been told that this pattern was for many years a premium with King Edward cigars. The butter spreader is a silver piece shaped like a paddle; it is used to spread butter on rolls and veggies. It goes on the plate called the bread & butter plate. Butter is served by the master butter onto the plate, and then is used as needed. The butter spreader never touches the tabletop, it stays on the b&b plate and never spreads butter onto the tablecloth. Butter spreaders are also very handy for cheese spreads. The 4 butter spreaders offered here measure about 5 3/4”. These are not pieces of new silver. They show the patina of as much as 85 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is no silver loss. The pattern is crisp and clear. These spoons have been carefully used and well cared for. I polish all silver before listing on eBay. Please email with any questions before bidding.
