Description: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This 20011 re-issue of the Classic Style N National was originally produced, like the Style O, in the 30’s. At that time, it was a highly polished gem, and made with Brass and German-Silver alloy. This modern version is still made of Brass and German Silver, but has a subdued classic subdued antique brass finish. It features a single-cone biscuit bridge setup with a 12-fret neck. Its all-metal body shares a similar shape and dimensions to the '30s Style O But relative to the originals, the modern Nationals bring about some sincere improvements. For starters, the nickel-silver-plated brass body is slightly thicker than the material used on prewar examples, and that allows for more bottom-end and rounded-off (less harsh) trebles. Plus, modern Nationals are built with a quality Maple neck that has a real Ebony fingerboard with a radius and precise fretwork. When you add good-quality modern tuners and lighter quality control across the board, you wind up with an instrument that also plays and sounds 100% to its full potential. This instrument had a complete neck replacement and comprehensive tune-up at the National factory this year. There is no wear on the frets, and it includes National’s more modern truss rod, which tightens counter clockwise. The factory setup is beautiful and it plays amazingly well and easily. It also has a Highlander passive pickup in it. The Highlander was the premiere resonator pickup in the 90’s and originally had an internal preamp that required an external power supply. The power supply is no longer available. I have the pickup wired directly to the outpout jack and it sounds incredible even without a pre-amp through any acoustic amplifier. The peizo type pickup is embedded into the bottom side of the biscuit. The guitar has an amazingly beautiful sound, and is also capable of a lot of blues bark when necessary. Included is a new National made hard shell case. The case is labeled “Smith and Young.” Smith and Young was the brand name of a spider cone resonator line National produced some years ago and has since been discontinued. The case is of the finest quality, and is a perfect fit. Work order and invoice is included.
