Description: Nassau Hall served as the U.S. Capitol building in 1783 for 4 months when Philadelphia was vacated because of a mutiny by Continental army soldiers. When it was built in 1756 it was known as the largest building in colonial NJ and the largest academic building in the colonies at that time. It was designated as a national historic landmark in 1960. According to Princeton University, "Here Congress congratulated George Washington on his successful termination of the war, received the news of the signing of the definitive treaty of peace with Great Britain, and welcomed the first foreign minister—from the Netherlands—accredited to the United States. Today, Nassau Hall houses Princeton University's administrative offices. Please look at the photos provided before purchasing. The pictures are of the actual item being sold.
