Description: Meet Nadia. Nadia is over 800 year olds. She comes from a small village that was located in the territory of what is now known as Romania. Nadia lived a hard life. Her family was very poor and they really struggled to survive every year through the harsh freezing winters. Although they didn’t have much Nadia’s father did his best to try to give his children an education and taught them how to read and write in Greek. Nadia loves to read. The only book they owned was Homer’s the Odyssey so Nadia would read it over and over again during the winter time as a way of mentally escaping from the harsh conditions around her. At the age of 17 Nadia’s village was invaded and destroyed by the Monguls. Nadia and her family did not survive the invasion but her spirit has continued on since then. She has now learned to read in all languages and likes to spend all her time reading books from her favorite authors such as Homer, Dickens, Proust and Dostoyevsky.
